2014 New Year’s Resolutions

To ensure my success this year, I am making my New Year’s Resolutions more concrete and measurable. That way my progress will be easy to track.

1)      Finish reading Bible.

Since the Bible is the basis of my faith, it is important that I know and study the Word. This year I’m going to start by finishing the Bible. I track my progress by ticking off each completed book on the Table of Contents in my Bible.

2)      Drink 1L of water per day.

I have several reusable cups and water bottles that I can use for this challenge. But the difference this year is I will also be marking it in my calendar. After drinking my litre for the day I’ll cross the day off. Hopefully the calendar will keep me accountable.

3)      Do something social with people at least once a month.

I love to spend time alone, hiding under the covers, reading my book. But I hate that most of my meaningful relationships take place online. I miss hugs! Since visiting my friends across the world is expensive, I want to use this year to strengthen my relationships with people here in the GTA.  So. I’m gonna try to go out at least once a month. Spend time with people. In person.

  1. A last minute corollary to this resolution: have dinner with my mom at least once a month. I want to strength our relationship too.

4)      Reduce student loan debt by $8K

Does this need explanation? My goal is to be debt-free ASAP. Right now I’m on track to pay off 6K in 2014 but I want to push it to see if with a little more discipline I can hit 8K.

5)      2014 Reading Challenge

Another year another challenge!

6)      Publish 60 posts on www.leonicka.com

I want this site to continue to grow as a resource and hub for critical thinking on entertainment, culture, and publishing. This means I not only need to post more, but also expand the types of articles I post. Please feel free to make suggestions or send requests!

7)      Complete 1 short story

I just want to be able to say I did this. I have so many stories started or floating around in my head. This is the year that I finish one.
