St. Joseph’s Oratory. This church was very different from Notre Dame’s Basilica. It is much sleeker and has a streamlined, modern look. I felt a sense of history rather than wonder. Although I am not Catholic, I can appreciate the dedication of the faithful.
My favorite part was the Ex Votos pillars. People with infirmities would come here on a pilgrimage and pray for healing. They leave their crutches and braces behind as a symbol of thanks and testimony to others.
The other notable area was the heart of recently canonized, St Andre of Montreal. His heart is in a glass case with iron closures behind a huge iron gate. It was quite the sight.
